Welcome to the 2012 Club Marine Southern 80

Moto X Freestyle demonstration featuring Jackson Strong, Cam Sinclair, and Blake Williams (Bilko) will be occuring at the Victoria Park compound several times each day over the weekend. Come and catch all the action.
Point Helicopters are providing Helicopter services for the 2012 Club Marine Southern 80. They will be operating Helicopter joy and private charter flights from Merool on the Murray. Bookings are essential. Download a flyer here for contact information.

Scrutineering form can now be downloaded here
Race numbers have been emailed to the Team Captains with valid emails on Friday 20th Janaury. Snail mail notification will be sent after the 23rd January with a copy of the Race Programme. The competitor information sheet sent out with the race numbers can be downloaded here.
If you would like to submit a team profile, you can do so from here. Please send to webmaster@southern80.com.au, so that we can use them with media outlets and for the PA on race day.
Briefing:
All Drivers and Observers MUST attend Briefing on Friday 10th February, at MWSC Office, 72 Annesley St, Echuca, where possible it is recommended that skiers also attend.
Briefings will be held regularly from 11.00am to 5.00pm.
If anyone is unable to attend, Prior arrangements need to be made with Secretary (Betty) on 03 54806754.
Pre- Race Scrutineering
Don't forget that your boat will need to be scrutineered in the two weeks prior to the event.All boats are to be scrutineered within the two weeks prior to the event.

Scrutineering Sessions:
- Friday 10th February – MWSC Offices – Annesley st Echuca, 11am to 5pm
- There may be others please check with your state organisation website if there others organised closer to you.
* A New Crack test certificate (if applicable) needs to sighted by the scrutineer and acknowledged on the scrutineering form.
*If you compete in an event after this scrutineering; your scrutineering is null and void and must be done again.
*You will then need to present a Southern 80 Scrutineering Form (other scrutineering forms will not be accepted) on Friday 10th February at the Briefing and paperwork finalisation area.
* There are no exceptions to these rules; all boats are to be scrutineered prior to the event.

THE EVENT
Vessel operators are advised that Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has declared that the above event, which is to be held on the Murray River at Echuca on the above dates, is a Special Event pursuant to Section 12(2) of the Marine Safety Act 1998.
SPECIAL EVENT & EXCLUSIVE USE AREA
Due to the potential to affect the safety of navigation, RMS has granted an Exclusive Use Aquatic Licence to the Moama Watersports Club Ltd. to conduct the event and a Special Event/Exclusive Use Area (‘the Area’) will be established on a section of the Murray River and CLOSED to all unauthorized navigation on the days and times listed below.
Saturday 11 February 2012
- 6:00am to 12:00 midday : from Torrumbarry Weir to the 1712km River Marker at Victoria Park Echuca; then
- 12:00 midday to 7:00pm : from the 1690km River Marker at Perricoota Marina, Goldsborough Road, Moama, to the 1712km River Marker at Victoria Park Echuca;
Sunday 12 February 2012
- 6:00am to 7:00pm : from the Torrumbarry Weir to the 1712km River Marker at the Victoria Park Boat Ramp at Echuca
Control vessels will be in place at each end of the course to advise vessel operators of the River closure.
Vessels lawfully moored within the Area must remain at their moorings and MUST NOT be operated during the event. In the interests of public safety, occupants of moored vessels are strongly urged to vacate their vessels during the event, and if they wish to view the race, to do so from shore. Due to the high speeds involved in the event, RMS urges all spectators to exercise extreme caution when near the Area.
DIRECTIONS
RMS advises that in relation to the Area;
a) Persons within the vicinity of the Area must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or NSW Police Officer in relation to the Special Event or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
b) No unauthorized vessels are permitted to enter the Area under any circumstances, and to do so may be an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s12(6) - Maximum Penalty $1,100.00)

PERRICOOTA-KOONDROOK FOREST CLOSURE

Due to the ongoing construction of the Koondrook-Perricoota Forest Flood Enhancement Project, the Perricoota Forest at Torrumbarry will be closed over the Southern 80 weekend.
